linux.conf.au 2004 Regional Delegate Program

Thinking of attending Linux Conf AU 2004,
but don't have the means to get there? Fear not; thanks to Sun Microsystems, the linux.conf.au organisers are running a Regional Delegate Program which allows one person from each state and territory to attend linux.conf.au with all major expenses paid for them, courtesy of Sun.


If you want to attend Linux Conf AU and live in Victoria but don't have the means to get there we can help.


We are now calling for applications. Applications should include:

  • Your name, address (must be in Victoria Australia), email address, and a contact phone number
  • How long you have been involved with open source
  • When you first started with Linux
  • List the open source projects you have been involved with. Consider including the following details about each project:
    • Name of project
    • URL to project
    • If relevant the approximate time you started and finished with the project
    • Brief (1 or 2 paragraphs) description of what your contribution to the project has been. This may be writing code, helping with documentation, submitting bug reports or anything else you have done to help.
  • Any other activities (eg user group) you have been involved with to help Open Source
  • Mention any financial circumstances which may prevent you from otherwise attending, eg unemployed or student
  • Sell yourself. One or two paragraphs explaining why you should be Victoria's representative with this prestigious prize.

lca2004-rdp@luv.asn.au and must arrive before 6am 20 October 2003.


Preference will be given to people who meet the following criteria:

  • Is actively contributing to open source (does not have to be coding)
  • Currently living in Victoria, Australia
  • Would otherwise have been unable to attend (eg student or unemployed)

As entries are open to all Victorians, regardless of user group affiliations you do not have to be a member of LUV to enter
(but that needn't stop you joining).




Included in the package is:

  • Return economy airfare from Victoria to Adelaide and back
  • Full Professional registration (includes conference dinner)
  • Accommodation for the duration of the conference.



The only thing not included is lunch and most dinners.




Those who applied last year, but were unsuccessful are welcome to apply again this year.
