The Hub @ Docklands, cnr Bourke St and Harbour Esplanade, Docklands
LUV Beginner's Workshop, Software Freedom Day and OLPC Corner — come along on the 17th of September and stay until 7pm in the evening!
After last year's award-winning Software Freedom Day extravaganza, we've decided that this year's event should have a more inward, community networking focus, rather than the publicity focus of the last few years. We would like to take the opportunity to forge and strengthen ties within and between the groups involved with Software Freedom in Melbourne and Victoria.
At this stage, the program is pretty much open. We're thinking that perhaps we can have a couple of opening talks on the importance of software freedom and then some workshops on how to promote in the coming year, perhaps establishing a network on a semi-formal basis (i.e., a mailing list) for workshopped activities. However, that's all very tentative and preliminary. Please e-mail with comments and suggested programme items!
We have The Hub in Docklands booked from 12 noon to 7pm (plus some set-up and tear-down time, if required). This is the usual venue for our Linux Beginner's Workshops. It has a foyer plus two other rooms, so we can break out into working groups or talks as needed. In the event of good weather, there's a park outside with a BBQ nearby.

linux distros
Over the past couple of years I have burned a lot of CDs and DVDs of linux distributions - artistx, clonezilla, puppy etc etc. Many of them I no longer use. So if I brought them along I could hand them out or give a talk about them in combination with handing them out. Virus free, md5 sums checked. I would be happy to bring them if you want me too. I probably have about a dozen CDs.
